Duck Deaths
Around 30 dead ducks were found at Liberty Park in early July. According to wildlife officials, the avian flu is not to blame. A small amount of harmful algal bloom was present in the park’s pond, but so far there is no clear cause. [Fox 13]

Six Sister Cities
Salt Lake City has six sister cities around the world, which are partnerships with other communities to share culture and knowledge. Last weekend, the city welcomed a delegation from Matsumoto, Japan to celebrate 65 years of being sister cities. Salt Lake’s other sister cities are located in Taiwan, Ukraine, Italy, Peru, and Russia. [ABC 4]
Clear the Air
Utah’s Clear the Air Challenge is an initiative to drive less to reduce vehicle emissions. It started on July 1 with a goal to eliminate 100,000 trips. The challenge runs through the end of the month. [KSL]
