What's CITY Talking About?
The Cool Side of the Heat Wave
When the temperatures rose over 100 degrees last week, dozens of volunteers braved the heat to record temperature and humidity levels around Salt Lake City. Why the sweaty work? Data on heat distribution around the city doesn’t exist, so the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chose SLC as one of the sites of an urban heat mapping project. (KUER)
In Good Journalism News
The Moab Times-Independent has been donated to the Salt Lake Tribune and will transition to a nonprofit later this year. The donation was made with the aim of ensuring the newspaper's continued operations and preserving local journalism in the Moab community. (Salt Lake Tribune)
The Cookie Wars Are Nearly Over
A year after suing Crave Cookies and Dirty Dough for allegedly stealing company secrets, Crumbl and Crave Cookies have filed a motion to drop the lawsuit. The dismissal will become official once the judge approves it. Crumbl’s trademark infringement lawsuit against Cookie Dough is still active, though. (ABC4)
What's the Salt Lake City Council up to?
From new pickleball courts to a potential ban on Sugar House drive-thrus, the Salt Lake City council has a lot on its plate. We break down what the council’s current workload means for Salt Lake. (City Cast Salt Lake 🎧)
