Salt Lake's best corndogs
July 7, 2023
Hey, Salt Lake! Congratulations, you made it to Friday. Reward yourself with a big, juicy corndog. We’ve got a list of some of the best below.

What's CITY Talking About?
From Gym to Affordable Housing
The Liberty Wells Center, a former gymnasium for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be turned into affordable housing. The Church donated the land to developer Ivory Innovations, who plans to transform the building and the adjacent baseball field into 36 townhomes. [Building Salt Lake]

More Mosquitos
Our wetter-than-normal winter means a higher-than-normal amount of mosquitos. This year’s mosquito population is nearly double the average of the last five years. According to experts from the Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement District, the chance of contracting malaria remains extremely low, but West Nile virus is of greater concern. [Salt Lake Tribune]
Over-the-Counter Birth Control
A new Utah law makes birth control available through a pharmacist without a prescription. It includes birth control pills, patches, and vaginal rings and will be available to those who have a low risk of complications. [FOX 13]
A Red Light For the Kum & Go
Representatives for the Kum & Go chain of gas stations failed to win an appeal to build a gas station near Sugar House park. The Salt Lake City Planning Commission initially voted to block the gas station due to a long list of environmental concerns. But it’s not over yet, the company could take it to court. When the news of the Kum & Go first broke, we had Building Salt Lake editor Taylor Anderson on the podcast to talk about the controversial proposal and why zoning is cool. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
