Cheap summer thrills for SLC kids

June 16, 2023

Good morning! FYI, we’re off Monday for Juneteenth. Catch us back in your inbox on Tuesday.

What's CITY Talking About?

Construction’s Effect on Restaurants

Local restaurants, like Johnny’s On Second, are losing business due to ongoing construction projects in the area. Small businesses can apply for a grant to help mitigate the costs starting July 1. [KUTV]

ICWA Remains

The U.S. Supreme Court preserved ICWA, the 1978 Indian Children Welfare Act that prioritizes keeping Native children with Native families. It was being challenged by a number of Republican-led states. The law was originally enacted due to the alarming rate that Native children were being ripped from their homes, and overturning it would have been a blow to the sovereignty of Utah tribes. [FOX 13]

It’s Parade Season

In part one of City Cast Salt Lake’s summer entertainment guide, we had a roundup of the best parades. Shireen Ghorbani tells host Ali Vallarta why she has unbridled enthusiasm for sequined marching in the street, and the do’s and don’ts of the spectacle. Scroll down for part two of our summer entertainment guide. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]
