June 14, 2023
Good Morning! One thing I know about Hey Salt Lake readers, y’all are a bunch of foodies. Tell me, where’s your favorite sandwich spot? Send me an email.

What's CITY Talking About?
Bangerter Freeway?
The Utah Department of Transportation plans to transform Bangerter Highway into a freeway. If you’ve ever been on Bangerter Highway, you know that people drive at freeway speeds anyway, and traffic gets backed up due to the intersections. It’ll be a long process, but UDOT plans to remove multiple intersections this year. Since 2012 they’ve removed 10 stoplights. [FOX 13]
Mental Health
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food wants to support farmers and ranchers with their mental health with a $2,000 voucher. Those in rural agricultural communities in Utah are dealing with a large amount of stress due to both drought and flooding. According to UDAF, the suicide rate for farmers and ranchers are nearly double the general population. [KJZZ]
Special Election
Friendly reminder, today is the last day to change your party affiliation to vote for a GOP candidate in the primary. ICYMI, Rep. Chris Stewart is stepping down from Congress due to his wife’s health issues. Only registered Republicans who live in Congressional District 2 can vote in the Republican primary. [Twitter]
