Good Morning! Hey Salt Lake reader Marisa W. asks: “I have been long on the hunt for a classic chocolate/vanilla swirl rainbow sprinkle soft serve spot in SLC. It’s all I want in the summer. There are a few swirl cone options but they simply do not offer toppings (i.e. Dave’s gas station and Macey’s). AND Jolley’s no longer does soft serve, only shaved ice. If you have any idea where to find this simple, yet rare delicacy, I need to know.”

Do you know where Marisa can find that classic choc/vanilla swirl with the rainbow sprinkles? Send me an email.

What's CITY Talking About?

It's a Bumbling Baby Zebra

The Hogle Zoo welcomed a new baby zebra to their herd, weighing 98 pounds, to proud parents Ziva and Scooby. An auction is taking place to pick a name for the foal, and the proceeds will help support its care. [FOX 13]

ChatGPT in the Classroom

While some educators worry about artificial intelligence like ChatGPT, and students using it to do all their work, some teachers are using it to their advantage. Chris Babits, a professor at Utah State University, gave his history of sexuality class an optional assignment of asking ChatGPT a question about the class material and then analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the responses. The Future of Folsom Trail

Salt Lake City’s Redevelopment Agency plans to makeover the former industrial zone along Folsom Trail and convert it into a neighborhood center, with commercial spaces for small businesses and nonprofit organizations. The city is receiving almost a half-a-million-dollar grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to clean up the site. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Queer Salt Lake: Does the Data Match the Vibes?

According to the Visit Salt Lake website, there is “tons of super gay stuff going on” in our city. But how queer is Salt Lake, really? Salt Lake Tribune reporter Paighten Harkins tells host Ali Vallarta whether the data matches the vibes –– and what the governor’s gear shift on the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ Utahns means for our city.

This is (not) hip hop.
