Inland Port Makes a Sustainable Pivot

The Utah Inland Port Authority, the agency leading the creation of a major logistics hub in the northwest part of Salt Lake County, has announced its intention to become more environmentally friendly. Officials remain doubtful about the feasibility of the approach, citing concerns about the port's potential impact on air quality, water resources, and overall sustainability. [KUER]

Permitless Farmers Market Goes On

Dorothy Durrant has been operating a farmers market on her property near Utah Lake, but according to Utah County officials, it’s not permitted for that or many of the other attractions hosted there. Neighbors have submitted complaints, citing violations of county laws, safety concerns, and a decline in the quality of their neighborhood. Durrant plans to continue hosting farmers markets despite the ongoing dispute. [The Salt Lake Tribune]

When Can Gay and Bisexual Men Donate Blood Here?

Salt Lake-based lab ARUP welcomes the news that gay and bisexual men can donate blood after a decades-long ban, but that doesn’t mean donations will come rushing in immediately. ARUP medical director Dr. Waseem Anani joins host Ali Vallarta — as she sits in the donation chair — to share the new line of questioning and what barriers still remain.

If you need me, I’ll be listening to “Wonder Eye” by Little Moon, the Utah band that recently won NPR’s Tiny Desk contest. See ya tomorrow!
