Salt Lake Trails: Extreme Makeover Edition
May 18, 2023

Good morning! With news of the upcoming Park City Monopoly, it got me thinking of old childhood board games. See if these unlock any memories for you: Don’t Wake Daddy, Pretty Pretty Princess, Don’t Break the Ice, and Perfection (I’m convinced this game gave me anxiety).
What are your favorite nostalgic games? Send me an email.

What's CITY Talking About?
What Does a TikTok Ban Mean for Influencers?
In December, Gov. Spencer Cox banned TikTok from all government devices. A full federal ban could put many Utah influencers out of a job — or at least a side hustle. According to ZipRecruiter, the average TikTok influencer in Utah makes $4,200 a month. The Queen of SLC Kendall Rodriguez said she would focus her attention on Instagram or YouTube if TikTok goes bust. [KUER]

Salt Lake Trails: Extreme Makeover Edition
Plan accordingly, trailheads. The City Creek Canyon Trail (of City Creek Canyon) will be closed for maintenance through June 2. This is part of a larger restoration project by Utah’s Public Lands Division that will coincide with Rocky Mountain Power replacing power lines in the area. [Salt Lake Tribune]

Manoli’s Returns
Shortly after Manoli’s received a prestigious James Beard awards nomination, they were forced to close due to flooding from an unexpected water line break. The Greek restaurant is now open after some heavy remodeling. [Gastronomic SLC]
Cheese Board Like a Professional
There’s no bad time of year for a cheese board, but damn does that thing look good on a picnic blanket. Cheese people, today’s episode of City Cast Salt Lake is for you. Host Ali Vallarta is chatting with Caputo’s own cheesemonger-in-chief Adri Pachelli about the guidelines for an expert spread as well as her insider tip about bubbles. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Salt Lake Chatter
Call me cheesy, but the best part of Hey Salt Lake is you. Here’s the latest chit chat from readers in the inbox:
On Riverton Things To Do
“I live in Riverton and love to go fishing. But sometimes I don’t want to drive very far to do it. There’s a small reservoir at Old Farm Park here that is dog-friendly and good for a little fishing. A creek runs near the reservoir, too, if you prefer to fish in moving water.
There’s also a baseball field, small water park, playground, and a paved sidewalk around the whole thing if you have kids or if you’re feeling up to some exercise. The park also has plenty of space to spread out for a nice picnic. It’s in a neighborhood so a lot of people don’t know about it. The only thing I’ll say is if you visit, please pick up after yourself!” - Katie F.
On Favorite Food Places in Salt Lake
“Meat Hook BBQ Co. in West Valley. Great food, great atmosphere. One of my favorite places to go.” - Sunshine C.
On Concert Etiquette
“Y'all forgot the biggest pet peeve for us concert goers. When the person in front of you puts their bright phone up and holds it up for the whole show it blocks our view and is distracting. Do that in the back if you must. I don't care about your YouTube channel's clicks! I'm trying to be in the moment, even if you aren't!” - Justice M.
