What's CITY Talking About?
Judge Blocks Utah Abortion Clinic Ban
A Utah district court judge has temporarily blocked a law that bans abortions in clinics, like Planned Parenthood, and only allows abortions to be performed in hospitals. The law was set to go into effect May 3. It’s likely the state Attorney General’s office will appeal this ruling to Utah’s majority-women Supreme Court (who are currently deciding what happens next in the similarly blocked “trigger law,” which is an all-out ban on abortions). Taking the Fear Out of School Lunch Balances
Fear Factory, a haunted house attraction, has paid off school lunch balances at two Salt Lake City schools, Mountain View Elementary and Park View Elementary. Feeding America found that one in 10 Utah children face food insecurity. [KSL]
The “Arena”
The process to transition Vivint Arena back into the Delta Center has begun. If you’ve driven by the area this week you may have noticed the building simply says “arena” now. They removed the name “Vivint” on Tuesday. [FOX 13]
Draper Homes Slide
By now you’ve probably seen the viral video of two Draper homes sliding off a cliff and collapsing into a ravine. It’s shocking. On today’s episode of City Cast Salt Lake, host Ali Vallarta chats with Salt Lake Tribune columnist Robert Gehrke about who’s to blame. [City Cast Salt Lake 🎧]

Who’s To Blame for the Draper Home Slides?
It’s not every day we see our neighbors’ houses fall off a cliff. But Utah made national news recently when a viral video showed two Draper homes sliding down a hillside and into a ravine. Salt Lake Tribune columnist Robert Gehrke joins host Ali Vallarta to try to explain who’s at fault and whether this could happen again.
Let us not forget, it’s also International Respect for Chickens Day. Hug a chicken today.
