The best ... Brussels sprouts?
April 28, 2023
Good morning! In today’s newsletter, we’re talking about those baby-cabbage-looking veggies that everyone loves to hate: Brussels sprouts. Plus, your weekend roundup of events.

What's DC Talking About
School Wellness Rooms
Sunset Ridge Middle School in West Jordan installed wellness rooms to help students and teachers mental health. Each designated space is equipped with items to help with relaxation. In the mindfulness center, students can read, color, or swing. And in the zen center, teachers can get a massage while listening to calming water sounds. [FOX 13]
Prison Nursery
The Utah State Correctional Facility has a four-bed nursery, but no moms or babies are using it because they weren’t able to secure funding from this year’s legislative session. Lawmakers cited major shortcomings in the prison’s health care system and created an advisory board under the Department of Health and Human Services to oversee implementing programs like the nursery. The department is looking towards federal grants and community donations to open by July. [Salt Lake Tribune]
Happy Birthday, FrontRunner!
The FrontRunner turned 15 this week! What’s next for the commuter train system? Double-tracking, for one, which would mean faster commuting times (15-minute intervals) and regular service on Sundays. ICYMI, listen to City Cast Salt Lake for tips on how to get around Salt Lake without a car. [KSL]
