Visiting All 511 Parks in Salt Lake

00:00:00

Tanner Park is well-known for being dog-friendly and people-friendly, alike. But have you discovered all there is to offer there? Here’s how to spend a perfect day in Tanner Park.

🐕 Parley’s Historic Nature Park

First thing’s first, dogs reign supreme here. While the area where they roam is officially Parley’s Historic Nature Park, it’s often referred to as Tanner Dog Park by locals. With 13 acres of off-leash trails and two watering holes to explore, it’s a dog day afternoon indeed.

🌊 Shoot-the-Tube

As summer winds down, some Salt Lakers consider shoot-the-tube a right of passage. Proceed at your own risk, though, this “waterslide” is a drainage pipeline. Pro tip: block the water at the top to help shoot you down faster.

🚲 BMX Trails

Fun fact: The Tanner Park BMX trails were created by a group of childhood friends in 1999. They continued to maintain the dirt jumps for many years.

🎾 Tennis

BMX-ing not your bag? There are plenty of other ways to get your body movin.’ Play a rousing game of tennis with a view of Salt Lake City that can’t be beat.

🧺 Picnic

I couldn’t make a park guide without suggesting a cute little park picnic. I’m basically eating alfresco as long as the weather allows.

What's your favorite Salt Lake park?
